The Nevo Custom Series C@ universal remote and C3 rechargeable touchscreen remote have been released and are available now in the Remote Shoppe store along with the new REX-433 RF Extender for the C3.

Both of these remotes feature a 2.2" color screen at the top and programming with Nevo's new online-based PC programming. The C2 has a series of buttons next to the color screen to select the corresponding command while the C3 features a full touchscreen powered by a Li-Ion rechargeable battery. The C3 may also be expanded for RF operation with the optional REX-433 extender.

New Universal Electronics Inc Nevo Custom Series C2 and C3 with REX433 RF Extender will be available in the next few weeks.

In this interesting introduction from a pre-CEDIA newsletter We learn that the new Nevo Custom Series Remotes will be programmable either on the remote itself or with a PC.

The new Nevo Custom Series Controllers: a perfect blend of easy setup, personalization, and elegant design. These universal IR and RF remotes can control up to 18 devices and cover virtually every brand of home theater equipment available. Set up the remote using a rich color screen or connect to a PC for customization and advanced features.

In a newsletter sent out today UEI tells us that they will be introducing TWO new controllers at the upcoming CEDIA Expo as well as a new RF Extender. The products will all be included in a new family dubbed the Nevo Custom Series (as opposed to the Nevo Pro Series which includes the current S70, Q50 and NC50). The two new remotes are the C2 and C3 (already found some details on that one) and the new RF Extender will be known as the REX-433.

Robert Archer, of CEPro Magazine posted his quick opinion of the Universal Electronics Nevo Q50 earlier this month and it's worth reiterating two of the key points made in the post.

1. The average consumer may find the programming software, Nevo Studio Pro, to be intimidating and confusing because it does not hold your hand through the programming with a Wizard like the Logitech Harmony remotes. However, there are lots of great training tools available that help you get started and you may find our Remote Shoppe software review helpful as well.

2. There are several ways to customize the Nevo Q50 with the NevoStudio Pro software. Whether you want to use pictures of your kids (like Mr. Archer did) or background screens with your favorite movie posters, et. al. the possibilities are endless.

UEI has acquired certain of Zilog’s patents and other intellectual property and assets related to its universal remote control business, including Zilog’s full library and database of infrared codes, and software tools. In addition, UEI has hired Dr. Norman Sheridan, Zilog’s Executive Vice President of Technology and Operations and CTO and other business, sales and engineering personnel, including all of Zilog’s personnel located in India. In a related transaction, Maxim Integrated Products acquired two of Zilog’s product lines, namely, the hardware portion of Zilog’s wireless control business and Zilog’s secured transaction product line.
